Clomiphene citrate is not a steroid, although it is commonly associated with anabolic steroids. Clomiphene citrate belongs to a class of medications known as Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators or SERM’s with attributes that stimulate and increase the production of gonadotropins in the body. Gonadotropins are protein based hormones that largely derive from the cells of the pituitary gland and are essential for a properly functioning endocrine system.
