Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a chemical created by trophoblast tissue, tissue typically found in early embryos and which will eventually be part of the placenta.
Bodybuilders who take anabolic steroids such as testosterone also use hCG to help prevent or reverse some of the side effects steroids cause, such as gonad shrinkage and infertility.
